An Improved Digital Waveguide Model of Flute - Implementation Issues
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper introduces a digital waveguide model of a flute which features a full set of finger holes of a real flute. The model responds correctly to real playing techniques, including the fingering combinations, overblowing, and vibrato. Many of the flute model parameters, such as the lengths of delay lines and finger hole filter parameters, have been computed from measurements taken from a real flute.

متن کاملDigital Waveguide Modeling of Woodwind Toneholes
This paper demonstrates a digital waveguide implementation of a six-hole woodwind tonehole lattice, based on theory and measurements published by Keefe (1981). Woodwind tonehole transmission-matrix parameters are converted to traveling-wave scattering parameters suitable for digital waveguide implementation. Second-order digital filters are designed to approximate the reflection and transmissio...
متن کاملModeling and Control of Performance Expression in Digital Waveguide Models of Woodwind Instruments
Most digital waveguide models of woodwind instruments to date have provided only basic control parameters such as frequency, breath pressure, and vibrato. It is clear that if these models are to gain popularity as real-time performance synthesizers or as composition tools, more flexibility is necessary. This paper discusses the implementation of expressive controls for flutter tonguing, growlin...

متن کاملThe 'virtual Flute': Acoustic Modelling at the Service of Players and Composers
Among the difficulties facing woodwind players are (i) awkward fingerings for rapid passages, (ii) intonation defects in instruments, and (iii) performing exotic effects such as microtones and multiphonics. In many cases these may be ameliorated by alternative fingerings. We report the construction and use of a web service for the flute. An expert system was trained by an experienced flutist to...
